Healing, Resilience, and Leadership Development Initiative, a comprehensive youth-centered program addressing the profound impacts of gun violence on young people aged 9–21 in Richmond, California. This initiative will provide trauma-informed support, life skills training, leadership development, professional counseling referrals, and legal support services. By focusing on healing, empowerment, and opportunity, this program aims to change the trajectory for underserved youth impacted by violence and systemic inequities. The program will be offered in two cohorts, each accommodating up to 15 individuals, depending on enrollment.
Program Description: Core Program Elements
Trauma-Informed Programming:Our workshops and support groups are designed to help youth and families process grief, overcome trauma, and rebuild their lives. Programs like Parenting Workshops and Braiding Workshops connect participants to their cultural heritage while fostering healing and self-expression.
Barbering Workshops:Our Barbering Workshops provide youth with an opportunity to learn technical skills in barbering while building self-confidence and leadership abilities. These workshops foster creativity, discipline, and a sense of accomplishment while offering a potential pathway to entrepreneurship or career development.
Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development: Through initiatives like the Young Entrepreneur Leadership Program, we empower youth with skills in leadership, financial literacy, and community engagement. These programs cultivate self-confidence and inspire participants to envision and achieve brighter futures.
